Biography

I hold a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Universitat de Barcelona (2016), followed by a post-doctoral position at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Lyon, France.

During these years of academic research I worked in the synthesis of manganese compounds that are mimetics of the active centre of the Mn-catalase enzymes and their insertion into mesostructures silica supports and silica nanoparticles in order to design new antioxidants against the oxidative stress. 

I have been working in an international and multidisciplnary environment that combines Coordination Chemistry, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Catalysis and Material Science. Therefore, I have experience in Inorganic synthesis, silica materials, physical-chemical characterisation of coordination compounds and functionalised materials (thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), nitrogen isotherm (BET), dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), pH and conductivity, Infrared spectroscopy (IR),...) and also in catalysis.

I consider myself a proactive person who is always open to gain new experiences that can improve my skills and satisfy mu curiosity. Also, I love communicating Science. During most part of my career I have hold several teaching positions at the Universitat de Barcelona, which have given me a profound experience into transmitting Science to undergraduate students with different levels of knowledge. 

In 2019 I joined the Functional Nanomaterials & Surface group as a Post-Doc Lab Project Manager.

Research interest
