Pubished the proceedings of the 10th International Symposium on Nitrides (ISNT2019)

The proceedings of the 10th International Symposium on Nitrides (ISNT2019), which took place in Barcelona between 9 and 13 June 2019, are now published in the Journal of the European Ceramic Society (Elsevier). The invited editors of this special edition are ICMAB Researcher, Amparo Fuertes, and Ralf Riedel, from the Technische Universität Darmstadt, co-Chairs of the symposium.

Published the International Conference on Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (ICSE-8) proceedings

The 8th International Conference on Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (ICSE8), organized by ICMAB researchers M. Isabel Alonso and Miquel Garriga among others, which took place between 26-31 May 2019 in Barcelona, has now published its proceedings in a special collection in the Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology B (published by the American Institute of Physics for the American Vacuum Society-AVS).

The JPhD2020 closes this edition having achieved the highest participation ever!

The JPhD2020, the 5th Scientific Meeting of PhD Students, organized by PhD fellows of four institutions at the UAB Campus  (ICMAB, ICN2, IMB-CNM and UAB), closed on 18 September 2020 this hihgly interdisciplinary and participative edition, which has enabled more than 80 participants to communicate their research and to think "outside the box", by attending talks of different research areas.

On 17-18 September 2020, the 5th Scientific Meeting of PhD Students (JPhD2020), organized by PhD fellows of the ICMAB, IMB-CNM, ICN2 and the UAB takes place! This new edition is ONLINE, representing a challenge for the organizers and speakers. The Chinese Students and Scholars Association donates 1,000 masks to the ICMAB

When the SARS-CoV-2 virus began to break out in Spain, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association in Barcelona launched a fundraising campaign. Some institutions and people in China contacted them and donated them some masks. Wenchao Duan is a PhD fellow at the ICMAB and member of this Association: "On the premise of respecting their wishes, the Association has donated masks mainly to hospitals, nursing homes, health departments and research institutes in Spain", he says.

The ICMAB resumes its scientific activity, suspended due to Covid-19

The ICMAB has started this week to resume the scientific activity in the laboratories that were stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This week the Metropolitan Area containing Bellaterra and the UAB Campus has passsed to the advanced phase zero (phase 0.5), so researchers and other workers considered to be "non-essential" can start to return to their workplaces. The return will be at a slow pace, but we are very happy to be able to do so!

Sebastian Reparaz co-author of the Handbook "21st Century Nanoscience" with a chapter on Thermal Transport

J. Sebastian Reparaz, researcher at the NANOPTO group (ICMAB-CSIC), is co-author of the Chapter 11 "Thermal Transport and Phonon Coherence in Phononic Nanostructures", together with Markus R. Wagner (TU Berlin), in the book "21st Century Nanoscience – A Handbook. Nanophysics Sourcebook (Volume One)" edited by Klaus D. Sattler (Taylor & Francis).

Stefania Sandoval participates in "Somos Científicos y Científicas, Sácanos de aquí" 2020 in the #ZonaCSIC

Stefania Sandoval, researcher at ICMAB in the Solid State Chemistry group, has been selected to participate in the Spanish edition of the international science outreach programme “I’m a scientist, get me out of here!”. The 2020 edition of “Somos científicos y científicas, ¡Sácanos de aquí!” will take place from 4-15 May 2020. During this time, Stefania will chat in a multidisciplinary group of scientists – the CSIC zone – which includes researchers from other CSIC centres.
